TipsForHandlingPetBirds > Birds Are More Delicate With Their Beaks Then We Are With Our Fingers
I know that big beak looks scary, and I know that it's scary that they're always trying to grab onto your finger with that big scary beak. But the thing to remember is that birds are capable of being remarkably delicate with their beaks.
Birds use their beaks for everything, not just biting and chewing and eating. They use their beaks to grasp objects, to open nuts and seeds without disturbing the meat inside, and to groom each other. A bird grooming another bird is far more delicate with its beak than you can be with your fingers when you groom a bird. The bird will be similarly delicate with you, so don't worry, make a new friend!
