Want to make tasty, great-textured hamburgers? Here's a recipe that'll work out for you. The recipe below is for 1 lb. of hamburger, but multiply it out for as many pounds as you need. Add in another egg for every, say, 4 pounds.

  • 1 lb. hamburger meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 C breadcrumbs
  • 2 t garlic powder
  • 2 t Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste (it's usually better to oversalt than undersalt, and be generous with the pepper)
  • If you're making chiliburgers, add in 1 t chili powder

Combine in a bowl, then break the meat up with your fingers and let fall onto waxed paper. Form the meat into small piles of the size you want to make your burgers. Toss each pile back-and-forth between your hands to form into balls, then flatten. Push down in the middle to form a dip in the patty; the burger will puff as you cook it.

Grill or cook on the stovetop, as you prefer.
