Whale watching!!! Sperm Whales are most likely to be seen in October.
And, in town, beautiful views -- it's at the foothills of the Seaward Kaikoura mountains. Also:
- Fyffe house, a relic of the old whaling days of that era.
- Point Sheep Shearing Show
- A water tower with a lookout, with amazing views
- Seafront walkways, with good views of seal colonies (make sure to go near low tide!)
