- Can't bump? Leave 'em at the bar!
- Show up early
- Bring somebody with you
- Get to people before they're famous -- talk to the speaker at the beginning of the event, not after they've presented
- It's a good idea to jot notes down on the card of someone you just met, you'll have forgotten much of your conversation the next day when you go to follow up but the notes will jog your memory.
- Very few people will ask an important person for something, so don't hesitate to do so yourself!
