Networking > The Deep Bump

Too many conversations at networking events are superficial and unmemorable. Here's an approach to get a real connection and be remembered.

  • Show some vulnerability; don't be afraid to open up.
  • Listen and show attention with eye contact and touching
  • Don't keep it up too long -- it's your goal to network. When the connection is made, make a specific request to contact the person in the future and then move on ("I'm really enjoying talking to you about X, and would like to meet for lunch and discuss it in the future. But right now, we're at this conference/event/etc. and we both need to keep circulating. When can we speak again?")
