Leaders always seek ways to change, grow, and improve, and are never satisfied with the status quo. Leaders need to make their vision and objectives clear, and relate actions concretely to those objectives.
Communicating the vision is key. Short and to-the-point works; people never have time, or the attention span, to listen to you drone on and on.
The speaker told a great story about vision (in alignment with the above, it was short).
- Disney's EPCOT Center was originally concieved of by Walt Disney himself, but Disney passed on before EPCOT could be built. Shortly after EPCOT was opened, a reporter asked Walt's brother Roy, "Isn't it sad that Walt couldn't be here to see this?" Roy replied "Walt saw it first, that's why you see it now."
