Hearts is a fun game. Anything you can beat other people at is a fun game. I'm not a serious player, but I can win more than my share. A lot of people make basic mistakes. Don't make basic mistakes; use the following tips:

• Watch your leaks
• Just because you took 13, don't take 20
• Take the Jack
• Play low spades early
• Bluff the moonshot and lead a high heart if you are the first person to take points
• Flush the Queen early
• Know when to pass high spades and when to hold them
• Know the difference between card values
• Count the cards played
• Know your opponents' hands?
• Watch the score -- first gain separation then pile on one player
• Always play your hand the way it's meant to be played
